Hacktrick Story

At Dell Technologies, we are working to create a digitally inclusive world. We’re committed to addressing the digital inequities we see around us every day. As part of this commitment, we will purposefully bring our people, along with our portfolio of products and services, to help lead community-centric initiatives that support digital inclusion.

One such initiative is the Solar Learning Labs, launched in 2013 in partnership with Computer Aid. The Solar Learning Labs are built from a single refurbished shipping container using low consumption energy technology and solar panels as its sustainable energy source.

Each Solar Learning Lab is equipped with a classroom’s worth of Dell Technologies computers and networking gear, designed to run on a thin-client network with minimal power needs. These products were selected for durability, long life, and energy efficiency. In addition, each lab features high-quality furnishings and shelter from the elements, and can double as a training facility or an Internet café.

The Solar Learning Labs are a bridge to the digital world, connecting young learners to STEM education. They offer a pathway to internet access, remote learning, and community engagement. This year Solar Learning Labs will transition to Solar Community Hubs, offering double the space to support broader community engagement beyond remote learning.

HackTrick Objectives

To bring a Solar Learning Lab to light, many devices need to be assembled from Dell Technologies. In this hackathon challenge, you will be asked to work in teams to utilize AI and machine learning applications to accelerate performance and build the maximum numbers of labs while also considering the scarcity and the cost of the components involved.
